Prayers for Sarah Burke

•January 12, 2012 • Leave a Comment

As the level of competitive skiing and snowboarding soars to unimaginable heights, risks and injuries are also on the rise. On Tuesday, Sarah Burke, one of Freeskiing brightest stars crashed hard in the pipe and is currently in critical conditions. Her exact prognosis is unclear, but it sounds pretty grim. It’s super sad.

This video of Sarah and her husband Rory was cicurclating on the internet and i thought it was really touching. You can tell these two are incredibly in love and care for each other deeply. I pray for Sarah, Rory, and her whole family during this trying time.

Sitting at the coffee shop working on some stuff, and this Shawn Mullins song came on.. It was a nineties classic.. Sometimes I get a little overwhelmed, but I need to just realize “Everything is gonna be alright.”

“She’s seen her share of devils in this angel town.”

I’ve gotta let it go.

White Denim: Street JOY

I stumbled upon White Denim a few months ago, then stumbled into one of their shows unknowingly at Larimer Lounge. Ever since I witnessed their passionate play, I’ve been hooked. Their fiery rifts, psychedelic themes and poignant lyrics make for an excellent band. Fortunately,  They ‘re cruising back to Denver and will be playing Summit Music Hall tomorrow. .. .

I’ll be there—Rocking.

Sing it out loud.

I wished I lived in the golden age
Giving it up on the Broadway stage
Hang with the rats and smoke cigars
Have a break with Frank and count the stars

Dressed to the nines, with hair to match
Shiny jewels, casino cash
Tapping feet, wanna take the lead
A trip back in time is all I need

Oh!
Sing it out loud gonna get back honey
Sing it out loud get away with me
Sing it out loud on a trip back honey
Sing it out loud and let yourself free

I’m on my way, gonna make it big
Gonna make these songs for the chicks to dig
It’s really hot and a little bit sour
We’re getting your strength to maximum power

Flying away from reality
Whatever-ever happened to gravity?
I see it clear, a shooting star
And I’m really gonna sing it like da-da-da

Sing it out loud gonna get back honey
Sing it out loud get away with me
Sing it out loud on a trip back honey
Sing it out loud and let yourself free

Ohhh silver screen on a rainy day

Sally Bowles in Cabaret
Shaking sticks, oh what a show
Fresh and jolly, from tip to toe

Rambling down the boulevard
With a fire burning in a wooden heart
My mind is set, I won’t be lying
But I never really thought it would feel this fine

I’m a mover: Free

Just gotta keep on, keeping on.

I was born by the river, just like this river,
I’ve been moving ever since
Ain’t got no body to call my own you know
I’ve been moving since the day I was born
Life is a game just made for fun, I don’t need no body
No, I don’t love no one
Yes, I’m a mover baby
Now get out of my way will ya?
Don’t try to stop me now

Following the footpath one fine day,
When I asked a wise man which was the way,
He said “follow you heart and look for yourself,
And come back and tell me what you have learned”.
Yes, I’m a mover.

Went back and told him I’d found me a wife,
Eleven children and a real good life,
Told him I’d left this happy home,
’cause I need to return to the long winding road
Yes, I’m a mover

Somebody that I used to know.

For some reason, this song has been stuck in my head for over 5 days…. I think it’s because of how passionate the singer is. The combination of the subtle beat mixed with the belting of his emotions- it’s pure gold.

Kimbra’s part is classic. Her pose and emotion are second to none.

Now you’re just somebody that I used to know…..

But you didn’t have cut me out..
